    Sam receives 2010 BBC Folk Award

    We’re thrilled to announce that Sam received the Horizon Award for Best Newcomer at the 2010 BBC Folk Awards last night. The award was presented by Nitin Sawhney, whose ‘Aftershock’ collaborative project led to Sam’s 18 month Southbank Residency.

    New Year’s Eve Party at Royal Festival Hall

    Sam will join an all-star line-up including Bellowhead, Eliza Carthy and Jim Moray to welcome in 2010 in fine style at the Royal Festival Hall.

    ‘With The Clore Ballroom and foyers at Royal Festival Hall decked out for a unique nautical-themed show, Bellowhead perform three strikingly different sets alongside DJs, a host of guests including Perrier Award-nominated comedian Tim FitzHigham, Eliza Carthy’s infamous ABBA ceilidh featuring classic ABBA tunes presented in ceilidh band style, Nick Luscombe, Jim Moray and The Big Chill creator Pete Lawrence who battle it out as silent disco DJs, and all manner of ship-shaped fun, from a casino to sea shanties and Sam Lee’s ‘Old Men’s Bar’.

    Shortly before midnight the party moves outside to an exclusive terrace overlooking the Thames, where you can enjoy London’s incredible fireworks and skyline away from the crowds. Then head back inside, where we give one final hurrah for 2009 and welcome 2010 in spectacular style.’
